INFORMATION LITERACY GRADUATE TESTING RESULTS – 2003
SUMMARY

During the spring of 2003, 142 Southside Virginia Community College graduates took the Information Literacy Competency Assessment Test.  From Table 1, it would appear that in general SVCC graduates did about as well as other students within the VCCS.  The sections that follow provide an analysis of results by degree, certificate, and diploma.  Those SVCC students graduating with an Associate in Arts and Science Degree scored well above the VCCS average in all categories; graduates with an Associate in Applied Science Degree scored just a little below the VCCS average, and students graduating with a certificate or diploma scored well below the VCCS average.  It should also be noted that the total number of certificate graduates was 17 and only 2 students graduated with a diploma.

The analysis of results is based on the VCCS Guideline of 37 as the cut-off for Standard Competence and 42 as the cut-off for Highly Competent.
