The Southside Virginia Community College Force basketball team from the John H. Daniel Campus joined the Virginia Community College System club league during the 2003-04 season and earned a very respectable fourth place finish in the Virginia Community College State Club Basketball Tournament. The team won the VCCS Eastern Division title in 2005-06 and earned a state runnerup finish while compiling a 21-6 record.

“We are hoping to build on our great success last season,” said Coach Smith. “The kids really worked hard last year and with some new players coming in, we hope to make a push and be a major contender in the VCCS again this season.”
The team opens play in November and will play a 24-game schedule this season including dates against teams from Virginia Commonwealth University, Roanke-Chowan and play in regional tournaments at UVA and UNC.
Students must be enrolled in at least six credits at the college and maintain a 2.0 grade point average to be eligible to play.
