Nursing
Nursing is a rewarding profession requiring only two years of full time training. There are a wide variety of fields in which you can specialize. Applications to the program should submitted by December 2008 for the nursing class that will be accepted for May 2009.

The application form for the nursing program has been updated, if you submitted an application prior to 9/1/2007, you'll need to click on the application link above; print it out; complete it; and return to the admissions office.
New Information for Fall 2008:
All students must pass a drug dosage calculations exam BEFORE they can be accepted into the nursing program or enter the NUR 111 OR NUR 115 Course. This exam will be offered several times over the next two semesters and the dates will be posted with the PAX-RN dates.
There is no charge for the exam and students may take the exam as many times as it is offered, 12 months prior to entering NUR 111 & 115. You must notify the instructor one week prior to the exam date that you wish to take the exam, if you plan to attend and take the exam. CALL (434) 736-2060, state your name and the date that you wish to take the exam.

Additional Information:
1. High school biology or BIO 01 is a pre-requisite for the nursing program. The only substitute for this is BIO 101 & 102. BIO 100 does not substitute for this. The anatomy and physiology courses do NOT substitute for BIO 01.
2. A grade of C or better is required in every course required to obtain you AAS in Nursing degree at SVCC. This means you must have at least a C or better in any nursing course and in every general education course required in the nursing curriculum in order to graduate and be eligible to take the NLCEX-RN.
