Graduates in this program will receive either an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Electronics Technology or a Certificate in Electronics. Some of the topics taught in this program are:

  • AC and DC Fundamentals
  • Electronic Devices
  • Computer Programming Principles
  • Basic and Advanced Circuit Analysis
  • Digital Principles and Applications
  • Electronic Communication Concepts
  • Microprocessor Applications

Some technical elective classes available include Digital Signal Processing, Virtual Instrumentation (using NI LabVIEW™), Audio Crossover and Filter Design, Electronic Test Equipment, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), and more.

The Electronics Technology program is offered at both of our main campuses; Christanna Campus in Alberta and John H. Daniel Campus in Keysville.

Current Projects We've been busy updating our labs, equipment and our classes!

We have upgraded our labs with state-of-the-art oscilloscopes and signal generators from Agilent Technologies.

National Instruments is an industry leader in electronic test and measurement, including data acquisition and virtual instrumentation. Our labs are incorporating NI equipment for virtual instrumentation and PC interface and control.

A new addition to our curriculum is Digital Signal Processing. Analog Devices is an industry standard in DSP. This new, introductory course, is offered this fall. Labs are being planned around some of Analog Devices' DSPs.

Transfer Opportunities

Why Stop Now? Get Your Bachelor of Science Degree from ODU.

After successful completion of the Associate in Applied Science Degree in Electronics Technology at SVCC, you can transfer to Old Dominion University's Electrical Engineering Technology Program. This opportunity is available to those students who want to transfer to ODU's Norfolk, VA campus, and to those who wish to stay in the local area. The Electrical Engineering Technology (EET) program offers two options: the Electrical Systems Technology Option, and the Computer Engineering Technology (ComET) Option. The Old Dominion University TELETECHNET program is a distance education program that allows students to complete their studies from one of over 50 distance learning sites. SVCC has a TELETECHNET site at both the John H. Daniel Campus in Keysville, and at the Christanna Campus in Alberta. This program also allows for students to complete master's and even doctoral degrees without ever leaving their local area.

So, if your long term goals include a four-year bachelor's degree, or higher, you can obtain these all here in Southside Virginia.
