Candice Perry Townsend, a Brunswick Senior High School graduate, earned an associate’s degree in computer science from Southside Virginia Community College.
After she completed her studies at SVCC, Candice continued her education by completing a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at Trinity University in Washington, D.C. and Master of Science in Library Science from Catholic University of America.
Candice is currently employed by the Library of Congress as a Supervisory Librarian, heading the Reference and Collections Support Section, Collections Access & Loan Management Division. Her duties include supervising reference specialists and technicians who handle all incoming requests for material from Congressional offices, Supreme Court, Embassies, Executive Office of the President, academic institutions and special libraries.
Of her time at SVCC, Candice reflects, “I fondly recall spending summer days updating the card catalog and shelving material in SVCC’s Julian M. Howell Library with my devoted mentor, Ms. Gaye Neale. The Southside Virginia Community College provided an excellent foundation for learning, and I am forever grateful for their support”.
