Cody Woodson was born in Powhatan, VA and later moved to Prince Edward County. Soon after graduating Prince Edward County High School, he enrolled in Southside Virginia Community College's Welding Career Studies Certificate program, which he completed in two semesters, graduating in 2014.
Since graduating from SVCC, Cody has been improving his wide range of skills as a fabricator, production and TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welder. He is currently employed as a full-time TIG welder and fabricator by Porvair Filtration group, which produces nuclear, aerospace, and pharmaceutical filters.
Reflecting on his time at SVCC, Cody emphasizes "I started from zero knowledge to now. The instructors at SVCC are some of the best. There would be no way I would be in the position I am today without the constant support and guidance from my teachers. They are there to make you the best professional you can be".
