Delegate Wright to Deliver SVCC Commencement Address

Thomas C. ‘Tommy’ Wright, Jr., Virginia House of Delegates member since 2001, will be the commencement speaker at the ceremony to be held at Southside Virginia Community College in Keysville on Friday, May 15, 2009.  The event begins at 6:30 p.m. and is open to the public.

Delegate WrightA native of Lunenburg County, Wright is a graduate of Victoria High School and Old Dominion University.  He represents the 61st District of Virginia which includes the counties of Amelia, Brunswick (part), Lunenburg (part), Mecklenburg and Nottoway (part).  He serves the committees of Militia Police and Public Safety, General Laws and Agriculture Chesapeake and Natural Resources.  He previously served as a member of the Lunenburg County Board of Supervisors.  He is also an advocate for the state’s community colleges.

He is a member of Victoria Christian Church, Lunenburg County Rotary, Work Force Investment Board, Fort Pickett Local Reuse Authority and Southside Business and Education Commission.

He is married to the former Frances Rose Abernathy and his sons are Thomas C. Wright, III, who teaches at SVCC, and Briggs Wright.
