Despite winter weather, svcc students are still 'in the pool'
Despite the recent cold snap, Southside Virginia Community College students are enjoying time in the pool and are getting good exercise as well. The class (PED 140) in Water Aerobics is taught at the Moose Family Center in South Hill.
From a review of the class offerings at all of the twenty-three community colleges in the VCCS, this class appears to be the only water aerobics class system-wide.

“It is great exercise and great fun as well,” states Judy Shepherd, class instructor who is certified by the Aquatic Exercise Association (AEA).
The Moose Family Center staff is very responsive to the class and the pool is wonderful, i.e. a twenty-five meter pool with various depths offering space for traveling with base moves and some deep water work as well.
This is the second class taught by Judy Shepherd; the first was during this past summer 2008. The PED courses at the College have really been expanding and the water aerobics class provides students with yet another choice.
