The SVCC Chorus presented two concerts of The Nights Before Christmas this year. The first at Clarksville Baptist Church on Saturday, December 3 and the second at South Hill Presbyterian Church on Sunday, December 4.
An Open House will be held at the Lake Country Advanced Knowledge Center in South Hill on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 from 4 to 6 p.m. to highlight CAD courses and Welding.
Robert Martin grew up in Wakefield, Virginia and graduated from Surry County High School. He earned a Career Studies Certificate in Diesel Technology from Southside Virginia Community College.

A local partnership is creating education and jobs for Southside Virginians. Southside Virginia Community College and American Buildings Company (ABC), a division of Nucor, are working together to offer the training and skills necessary for many of the jobs offered by the company.

Students are enrolled in the evening welding class at the Lake Country Advanced Knowledge Center. We encourage anyone who likes a challenge, who has a good work ethic, and who has trouble sitting in an office all day to come take a tour and learn what a huge return on investment you can experience by devoting a couple nights a week to learning a professional skill like welding.
SVCC's College Wide "Panther Prep Advising Day" was held on November 21st to give students an in depth advising experience, a connection to college resources and an opportunities to learn about college programs. Dr. Joyce "Joy" Hurt of Southside Virginia Community College was awarded one of five inaugural leadership awards presented by the Virginia Community College System on November 17th. Dr. Hurt is an Adjunct Instructor for English at SVCC.

Just in time for Thanksgiving, when many gather with family and friends to celebrate with a bountiful meal, Southside Virginia Community College’s Agribusiness program, in partnership with SVCC’s Student Services and with the support of Virginia Farm Bureau, will show a free screening of the film, FARMLAND. The film will be shown on both SVCC campuses, in Alberta and Keysville, at 7PM on Monday, November 21.
