The Southside Virginia Community College men’s basketball team ran its winning streak to seven games after recording a pair of victories at home over the weekend.
SVCC topped the Bryant & Stratton College junior varsity team 92-77 on Saturday and followed that up with a 101-86 win over Stillwater Christian Prep on Sunday afternoon.
The victory on Sunday was the tenth in the last 11 games for SVCC and improved the local team to 11-5 on the season.
101-86 Vs. Stillwater Christian Prep
SVCC got off to a good start as Marcus Hoosier scored the first six points of the game for a quick 6-0 lead.
A bucket by Tevin Holloway at the 15:00 mark gave SVCC a 14-7 lead.
A rebound and putback by Reggie Dennis gave SVCC a 36-27 lead and the local team took a 42-36 lead to the halftime break.
A 3-point play by Donald Maxwell at the 15:30 mark of the second half gave SVCC a 50-40 lead and the local took opened up a 20-point lead when Dennis scored on a putback at the 10:21 mark.
Hoosier scored 29 points on the day for SVCC and added five rebounds and four assists.
Dennis scored 20 points and added 17 rebounds, five assists and five steals.
Donald Maxwell also had a good day for SVCC with 18 points, five rebounds and five assists.
SVCC will welcome Davidson County (NC) CC, currently ranked ninth in the most recent NJCAA national poll, to Lawrenceville on Saturday for a 2 p.m. date at Brunswick High School.

92-77 Vs. Bryant & Stratton
SVCC topped Bryant & Stratton 92-77 on Saturday after overcoming a double-digit deficit in the second half.
The local team jumped out to a 7-0 lead and took a 10-3 lead on Edmund Maxwell’s trey at the 15:02 mark.
SVCC took a 24-13 lead at the 13:13 mark of the first half on a 3-point play by Shawon Tucker.
A trey by Dennis gave SVCC a 36-27 lead at the 3:05 mark but Bryant & Stratton closed on a 9-2 run to close the deficit to 38-36 at the halftime break.
The Bobcats took a 58-48 lead at the 12:32 mark of the second half but SVCC fought back behind a 3-point play from Cordaro Boyd and a trey from Anthony Williams to close to 60-54.
Two buckets by Holloway and a 3-point play by E. Maxwell gave SVCC a 62-60 lead.
A trey by Dennis two minutes later gave SVCC a 75-71 lead with 5:30 left.
Buckets by Shaun Coleman and Boyd gave SVCC an 85-73 lead on the way to the victory.
E. Maxwell led SVCC with 21 points and eight assists while Holloway scored 19 points and added six rebounds.
Dennis finished with 13 points, seven rebounds and three steals while D. Maxwell scored 11 points and added four steals.
Coleman finished with 10 points and 15 rebounds.
