Trailing by 12 with under two minutes to play, the Southside Virginia Community College mens’ basketball team staged one of the program’s greatest comebacks to earn a thrilling 102-101 win over Thomas Nelson CC on Saturday afternoon at famed Bethel HS in Hampton.
SVCC’s pressure defense started the rally by forcing two straight turnovers as KJ Reagans buried a trey and Justin Williams added a layup.
After a layup and two free-throws following a steal and foul, Josh McClure buried a trey with 27 seconds left to cut the Gators lead to 101-100 and the SVCC defense forced yet another turnover 14 seconds later and McClure hit a layup for the lead.
