Welding Class at LCAKC

Students are enrolled in the evening welding class at the Lake Country Advanced Knowledge Center. We encourage anyone who likes a challenge, who has a good work ethic, and who has trouble sitting in an office all day to come take a tour and learn what a huge return on investment you can experience by devoting a couple nights a week to learning a professional skill like welding.

Job Fair in Greensville/Emporia

More than 30 employers set up displays, handed out applications, and talked with potential employees during the Job Fair held at the Southside Virginia Education Center in Greensville County on November 2, 2016.  Southside Virginia Community College Workforce Development and Student Development Services partnered with Crater Business Services Team to sponsor this regional event.

Teamwork

Southside Virginia is home to some great athletes, and sports participation is one important way young people can prepare for education opportunities and future employment. By participating at their personal best levels and learning to work with others on and off the court, athletes gain valuable experience.

Free Screening of Documentary Film, FARMLAND

Just in time for Thanksgiving, when many gather with family and friends to celebrate with a bountiful meal, Southside Virginia Community College’s Agribusiness program, in partnership with SVCC’s Student Services and with the support of Virginia Farm Bureau, will show a free screening of the film, FARMLAND. The film will be shown on both SVCC campuses, in Alberta and Keysville, at 7PM on Monday, November 21.

Canine on Campus

Members of the Virginia State Police recently visited Assistant Professor Alfonzo Seward's Administration of Justice class. After speaking to the class, Trooper Will Blount, an SVCC graduate, and his dog, Titan, show their skills at tracking and stopping suspects on the loose.
