‘Live Chat” at Southside Virginia Community College

Staff members at Southside Virginia Community College are offering yet one more way to communicate with students and prospective students. Now with "SVCC Chat" you can get your answers in real time.

Throughout the day, five days a week, Live Chat is staffed with a person who either knows the answer to your question or can quickly get the answer.  While phone conversations are dynamic (if you can reach the party) and e-mails are efficient (if you can get a quick response), a Live Chat staffer is there for you instantly and can stay with you until your questions are answered and issues are resolved. 

SVCC piloted the Live Chat project before making it available on a limited basis.  When made available, community members and potential students seemed to be appreciative of the interaction and the usefulness of the live exchange.  With that positive feedback, the Dean of Enrollment Management decided to expand this service making it available from 8:30 to 4:30 on Monday through Friday. 

Now that the spring 2009 semester will soon start (classes begin on January 7), the College hopes that Live Chat will be used more extensively.  The link to “Live Chat” is on the SVCC home page, in the lower left corner.
