Dr. Cavan Receives Award

The National Council for Continuing Education and Training recently selected Dr. John J. Cavan, President of Southside Virginia Community College, to receive the 2009 NCCET Presidential Leadership Award.  The award is given in recognition of outstanding service and leadership to the association and his sustained service to the higher education community.

The Council also noted that the award was in recognition of Cavan’s exceptional character, innovation and support for continuing education on a national level.  The award was presented during the NCCET 40th Anniversary Gala Celebration held October 19, 2009 at the Monarch Events Center in Austin, Texas. 

Dr. Cavan was able to attend the event and is shown in the photo, back home at SVCC with his award.
