Jennah Gunter began her formal education in her community’s home school co-op, which she completed through the eighth grade. She finished the SVCC Middle College in 2012 where she attained her General Educational Development (GED®) credential. Jennah graduated from SVCC in 2014 with an Associate’s Degree in Arts and Sciences General Studies and her General Education Certificate. She then transferred to Longwood University where she has just completed her junior year majoring in English. She is minoring in Psychology.
Jennah has set her goal to become a university professor. She planted the seed for her aspirations when she served as a tutor and teacher’s assistant in her home school co-op while waiting to meet the age requirements to attend SVCC for her classes. She enrolled in Middle College and completed her GED® in less than four months, progressing steadily and enthusiastically on her AA degree. As a Longwood student, Ms. Gunter is in the midst of a process that will lead to post-graduate studies in Education. She also aims to increase her proficiency in her second language, Arabic, for her teaching area of concentration. Jennah seeks to expand her background and credentials through study abroad.
Jennah is a native of the Northern Virginia area. She is married and expecting her second child. She lives in Phenix, Virginia, where she has been active in caring for her twenty-two-month old daughter, Samar. Her husband, Hasan Watson, is originally from Michigan. They have been married for three years.
