Alumni Spotlight: Dr. Donald “Chip” C. Jones, Jr

Dr. Donald “Chip” C.  Jones, Jr. serves as Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Operations at Cumberland County Public Schools where he has also been a Director of Finance and elementary school Principal.  He has been with Cumberland County Schools 11 years and also served Nottoway County Public Schools for six years as division energy manager and health teacher.  Chip began his college career at Southside Virginia Community College earning an Associate of Arts and Science degree.  He then transferred smoothly to Longwood University and completed a Dr. Donald "Chip" C. JonesBachelor of Science and a Master’s Degree. 

Jones noted the following about his time at SVCC.  “The University Parallel Program of Study at SVCC afforded me the opportunity to take classes at an affordable cost in order to transfer to a four year university. I enjoyed my time at SVCC.  I met many great people that I still keep in contact with today. "

In 2014 Jones completed his doctoral work at Virginia Commonwealth University.  A recognized leader in K-12 education in Southside Virginia, Jones has extensive experience and great success in the areas of policy development, finance, school construction and mentoring aspiring leaders, just to name a few.
