Alumni Spotlight - Dimitri Jones


Dimitri Jones



A Central High School graduate From Lunenburg County, Virginia, Dimitri Jones earned an Associate of Applied Science in Information Technology and an Associate of Arts and Sciences in General Studies from Southside Virginia Community College.

Dimitri transferred to Old Dominion University (ODU) to pursue a bachelor's degree in Computer Science.  He is also currently employed by ODU as a Computer Technician with Classroom Central.  

Naming his time at SVCC as the best in his life to date, Dimitri reveled in the College's family atmosphere.  "I loved it so much I would go to campus early and be one of the last ones to leave. I really didn't mind staying there all day."  In addition to recognizing the support SVCC staff members (including  Le'Tina Giles, Sandra Bacon, Dorothea Sizemore, Melissa Wood, Melissa Johnson, Leslie Perkins, Debra Andrews, Matt Dunn and Lydia Ramsey) gave, Dimitri thanks his grandmother for "helping me keep my eye on the prize."


Hoping to eventually start his own software development company, Dimitri strives to bring more awareness to the minority community on the importance and fun of technology.
