Charles Lee Dunn IV graduated from Southside Virginia Community College in 2011 with an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Administration of Justice. In 2013, he graduated from the Virginia State Police Academy and is currently assigned to Brunswick County.
Last semester, Trooper Dunn volunteered his time to talk with SVCC Administration of Justice students. He shared how his education at SVCC had been beneficial to him in the process of becoming a Trooper and also in his duties. According to Trooper Dunn, “When I started the Virginia State Police Academy in 2013, I found I already understood a lot of the terms and the organization of the Criminal Justice system thanks to my time at Southside and my teacher, Dr. James Taylor.”
Charles’ time at SVCC had a “huge influence” on his life. The people he encountered and the experiences he had opened his eyes to the world. His advice to SVCC students is, “Take advantage of every opportunity SVCC has to offer.”
