Alumni Spotlight: Alton Edmonds

SVCC Alumni Spotlight

Trucking is in the blood for Alton Edmonds.  His grandparents established Edmonds Trucking, a flatbed trucking company located in Nottoway County, and his father, uncle and brother are also a vital part of the family owned business.

Alton EdmondsAlton (left) is a 2015 graduate of SVCC’s 206th Truck Driver Training class that completed the program on Friday, February 20th.   During a class celebration, Alton was recognized for obtaining a “perfect road score” meaning he did not make a single driving error on a 13 mile course.  According to instructor Willie Crawley, “this does not happen often and Alton gave me a perfect ride.”

Fortunately for the Edmonds family, Alton plans to carry on the family tradition and join Edmonds Trucking.  Alton’s brother Markell (right), graduated from Southside Virginia Community Colleges’ fall 2013 truck driving training class. Both Markell and Alton graduated from Nottoway County High School.
