SVCC Plans Peru Trip

Peru flagThe Southside Virginia Community College ‘International Education Program’ will host an eleven day trip to Peru during Spring break (February 26 through March 8). The group will leave from Raleigh/Durham airport and land in Lima, Peru. Peru is located on the Pacific coast of South America.

SVCC’s International Education Program is dedicated to providing an experiential learning environment for students and faculty who want to think globally, and foster student learning in a community that teaches tolerance and the acceptance of different cultures, languages, races, religions, dress and ideology as well as increasing awareness of international competition, trade characteristics and foreign policies.

You are invited to join the trip. The cost is $2,600. For more information, contract Dr. Percy Richardson at 434.736.2089 or email him at Percy.Richardson@southside.edu.

Just imagine the stories you can tell about your experience in Peru. Start the story with the adjustment the body had to make being 9,000 feet above sea level and drinking coca tea. Then proceed to talk about the oldest continuously inhabited city in the western hemisphere—Cuzco. It was once the center of the Inca civilization with its historic landmarks and ruins of Kenko, Puca-pucara, Tambomachay as well as the Sacsayhuaman fortress.

This trip is the perfect classroom for everyone to see and learn about a different culture. The IEP awards various scholarships to qualified applicants.
