PSB/NLN Testing Information

Southside Virginia Community College offers three nursing programs through main campuses and college centers.

Nurse Aide Program

The Nurse Aide Program consists of 16 credits and is offered throughout the service area. At the conclusion of the program, the graduate is qualified to earn certification by examination. This examination is given in the service area.

Practical Nursing Program

The Practical Nursing program is offered on the Alberta Campus, the Keysville Campus and at the Chase City and Farmville Centers. Information is provided on this website and you can call the Counseling Centers on either main campus for admission information. When the student graduates, he/she is eligible to sit for the board exam, to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) Program

The Associate Degree program qualifies the graduate to sit for the state board exam to become an RN and this ADN program is offered in Alberta, Keysville and South Boston. Information on this website explains the admission procedure. The prospective student is also welcome to call one of the main campuses or the Southern Virginia Higher Education Center.

The career of nursing has a dynamic educational and career ladder where students can begin their career as a CNA and continue to become an LPN, an RN and complete their BSN on either campus with ODU-teletechnet. Or students can begin their education on any step of the nursing educational ladder. Please feel free to seek more information on this viable career option of nursing.
