occupational outlook:

Our research, based on a educational requirements compiled from the BLS (Bureau of Labor Statistics), suggests that nearly 13-million Americans are presently engaged in occupations relating to, or requiring drafting knowledge or use - roughly 8% of the US civilian workforce. According to projections, between 2006 & 2016, there will be an increase of 1.1-million U.S. positions. (statistics and projections compiled from BLS, August 2008)

Current Technology:

SVCC maintains the latest technology in their drafting program, utilizing state-of-the-art software programs by the world’s leading supplier, Autodesk®, all of which are available for student use under special licensing agreements through the Autodesk Student Engineering & Design Community

The types of CADD programs utilized within typical coursework as are follows:

Autodesk® AutoCAD®

Autodesk® AutoCAD® Architecture

Autodesk® Inventor®
