At a recent luncheon honoring one Commonwealth Legacy Scholar per community college, the VCCS recognized John Johnson as SVCC’s recipient. This merit-based scholarship is sponsored by the VCCS and the 2008-09 scholarship is named in honor of Gene Thomas, a member of the SVCC Foundation Board of Directors and a long time supporter of SVCC. John, a former dual enrollment student, was one of the top five graduates in his high school class at Buckingham County High School. He is a part of the Honor’s Program at SVCC and has special interest in history and broadcasting. John was co-captain of his high school soccer team.
